I started Powell Amplification because there wasn’t enough versatility in the tube amps that were on the market. Many were one-trick ponies, and a handful knew a second trick. Digital modeling amps don’t really capture the sound or the feel of a good tube amp, so to begin filling this hole in the market, I designed The Midnighter.
Powell Amplification is based in the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area, because I want to be here. There are a ton of great musicians here, not to mention top-notch music festivals.
I build my amps using as many domestically-manufactured components as is possible and practical. My speakers, cabinets, chassis, transformers, and circuit boards are all made in USA.
To keep costs as low as possible, Powell Amplification uses a direct sales model. I would love to have my amps in stores all over town, but that comes at a pretty high price. I chose not to pass that expense along to the consumer.
